What is the Seasonal Article Writing Competition (SAWC)?

The SAWC is an quarterly event giving the opportunity for students to take on the role of an economic writer and write professional articles about current, real-world economic topics in a structured, competitive, and educational environment

What are the benefits of competing in the SAWC?

The SAWC develops critical thinking, writing, and research skills while simultaneously fostering a deeper understanding of economics among participants. This contest also aims to give students the chance to have their work publicly recognized by both the Junior Economic Club of Canada and the International Junior Economic Club.

What is the competition format?

Writers will write an economic article based on the theme provided! The article can focus on any economic, business or financial topic of their choice however must be in-line with the theme. The Fall SAWC will start on October 24th, 2024 and will last until November 25, 2024.

Submissions will be reviewed by JEC Canada’s president Amanda Deng, and Junior Economist director Andrew Wu
